ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Healthcare Assistant at Seabird College
The Healthcare Assistant program prepares students for entry-level care work in long-term care facilities, assisted living, and home and community settings. Classes blend foundational knowledge with hands-on practice in lab and clinical settings, taught by instructors with current experience in BC’s care system.
Prepare for a rewarding in-demand career as a frontline healthcare provider, supporting clients in a variety of care settings. The Health Care Assistant Program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes needed to provide compassionate, person-centered care as valued members of the healthcare team. Under the supervision of healthcare professionals, graduates help promote and maintain the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being of clients while making a meaningful difference in their daily lives.
Graduates leave the program eligible to register with the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry, opening the door to employment across the province. Indigenous and self-identifying Indigenous learners benefit from cultural support, Elder presence, and a learning environment grounded in care.
