MISSION
Education, rooted in
hands-on learning.
Seabird College is a private post-secondary institution located in the beautiful community of Agassiz, BC, dedicated to serving Indigenous and self-identifying Indigenous learners. As a private post-secondary college, the college is committed to empowering First Nations, Métis, and Indigenous communities through upgrading and post-secondary education.
Education should be accessible, meaningful, and rooted in hands-on, tactile learning experiences that complement and enhance in-class coursework. The team is deeply committed to every student’s success, going the extra mile to provide support, guidance, and care throughout each learner’s educational journey.
Through unique wrap-around services, students are empowered to achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals, creating pathways to confidence, skills, and a bright future.
OUR HISTORY
A dream, realized.
Seabird College began as a dream of Seabird Island’s Chief Administrative Officer, Chuck McNeil, and Grand Chief Archie Charles many years ago. They dremed that one day, Seabird Island would be able to have its Community Members, and the members of neighbouring communities, receive a college-level education within their community.
This education would take into account the specific learning needs of First Nations people. In 2009, the Band opened Seabird College
